I love long weekends!
Especially when we can leave the house - and stress - behind for a few days. Too bad we couldn't have had a stress-free weekend! We did go camping up American Fork Canyon - to Little Mill. I really like that campspot - close to home in case there is any problems but far enough away that the phones don't work.
However, things didn't go so smooth this time. I had some, um, female issues that weren't expected. So we had to make a trip home Saturday morning (good thing: I got a shower). And, due to same female issues (which were worse than planned on/expected) we had to make a trip to the Walmart and then home (good thing: another shower) on Sunday. So that didn't make me happy.
On top of that - we had a very inconsiderate camping neighbor. Friday night we had just started dinner when they decided they wanted to listen to music. So, we got to listen to their music. Now, I HATE loud music with a passion - if my neighbors have their music going in their car and just sit there and if I can hear that music, I go crazy. Too loud - especially if all I can hear is the boom boom boom. So, after a few minutes Friday night I went in our trailer so that I couldn't hear it. At least I couldn't hear it inside - but who goes camping to sit in their trailer all night long? I was not a happy camper. I was a pissed off camper. My dear, sweet husband went over and told them that he didn't mean to be a jerk, but their music was too loud and asked if they would turn it down. The man gave him a dirty look and closed the door to their truck. It helped some, but I was agitated. Tim and Ster left for a walk and the jerk turned it back up. It was terrible. Saturday night they did the same thing - the only reason I didn't get totally pissed off was because I used my ipod and couldn't hear them. (Poor Tim - since I couldn't hear anything I sang and sang. I DO NOT have any kind of singing voice. Poor Tim).
To top it all off, the weekend couldn't have started out all that great - as we were pulling out of the driveway one of the trailer tires was flat. So, we put on the spare and went on our merry way. After we got settled, Tim checked out all the tires and guess what? They were all about to go - they were starting to do what the first tire did. So, $800 later we have a new set of tires. At least we weren't on our way to Cedar City when the tire went flat - and atleast Tim checked the other tires before we left. Could be worse.
Oh wait! It is worse! Tim was mowing the lawn and our lawnmower died. I was so afraid of that! We've been nursing that stupid thing along hoping it would make it through the summer. We haven't had the money to buy a new one and the only option was to buy a cheapy if it did die. Low and behold - it died. But it was a piece of dog doo anyway - the bag sucked. Really. We have to use wire to hold it onto the lawnmower - and half the time it blows grass in my face. It makes funny sounds as it goes. It cuts out all. the. time. I'd hoped.....but $450 later we have an inexpensive lawnmower that should last us a few years (heck, the last "inexpensive" lawnmower we bought did last these 5 years) and a weed whip that doesn't leak oil everywhere (we got that weed whip courtesy of our neighbor five years ago).
As much as I love long weekends, it may be a good thing to go back to work! (thank heavens for the itty bitty cost-of-living raise I got - had to wait 3 years for it, but atleast I got one!)
