Some peoples kids!

Sheesh - I can't decide if I was more embarrassed by Tim or upset with the other car. But.....

The power went out for awhile today - and since I hadn't made dinner (like I felt like it) and Tim hadn't made dinner and we were hungry, we decided to head out the door for dinner. We got down the street to no power. What are you supposed to do at an intersection when the lights aren't working? Treat it as a 4-way stop - but I'm pretty sure that Utah Driver's Ed doesn't teach the proper 4-way stops. Either that or a lot of transplants from other states come in and mess everything up. But I'm pretty sure its a Utah thing. Anyway, we happened to get closer to it and the power came back on - and therefore the lights started to blink red. Okay, I learned long ago to be very careful when that happens because pretty soon it'll be working right. Anyway, sure enough, the light goes solid red for about 3 seconds and then turns green. People start to go - like you should. Not everyone started to move, however. Three of the four lanes started to go - and not just a couple, but all the cars in the lanes. So what happened to the person in our lane? Just sat there. Did. Not. Move. At. All. Seriously - I was annoyed. I was hungry! Lights green - you go! So, Tim finally found an opportunity to get in the other lane and go around the dude. As we got next to him, Tim leans way out his window and in a deep, deep voice yells at the guy to look at the light - it's green. The guy finally hit the gas pedal - but wouldn't pass Tim. How embarrassing!

Update:
I am feeling much better. I still cough like crazy and there are times I can't really talk. But, I can breathe much easier and my chest doesn't hurt very much. I do know when it is getting close to time to use my inhaler - I have about an hour or so when my chest starts to feel wheezy. Use my inhaler and voila! I'm better! My doctor told me I wasn't really contagious - but to be careful around old people and people who have weak immune systems or are already sick. I had to go buy garments to day and who works at the garment store? Old people. So I sanitized my hands before I went and I didn't get close and wouldn't cough at all cuz I didn't want to get the old ladies sick. I lucked out and got one of the younger old ladies. (I have to be careful - I'm getting to the age where I'm gonna be considered one of the "younger old ladies"!)

Now I know why I feel so terrible.

I don't have bronchitis. I have pneumonia! After 4 1/2 days of painful breathing, I decided it wasn't getting any better and went back in (which is a whole other story). This time, I had x-rays and we found it is pneumonia. So - three days off!

I thought I was getting better. Yes, my cough was terrible. Yes, my chest hurt but I was sure the medicine would kick in. My headaches were disappearing and I wasn't so tired. I made it into work for 5 hours yesterday and 3 today (boy will they be upset when they find out I actually have pneumonia). Anyway, it got bad today at lunch time and I couldn't talk without taking shallow breathes every so often.

I called into the doctor's office around 12:30 p.m. to see if they could get me an inhailer or something. Almost 2 hours later, the nurse calls me back and says I'll need to see the doctor before they'll send in a prescription. Okay, so I ask if he had any time. She kind of paused like I must be joking - and then said I'd have to talk to the receptionist and transferred me. I got the voicemail. Like I was going to wait another 2 hours for them to call me back! And then wait in their office for 45 minutes until they could see me. At this point, I was hurting and not breathing well and very upset it took so long. I called Tim up and cried and couldn't breath and all sorts of stupid stuff. So we went to a different place - and were in and out in a very short amount of time. I'm switching! And hoping the new office doesn't get too busy.

Can you tell I'm bored?

Sheesh. I'm bored out of my mind! Today I have left my room for the kitchen and bathroom - and no other part of the house. For the most part, I feel better. When my cough medicine wears off I start to feel icky - but I've learned my lesson and eat something small before I take the medicine so I don't feel like I'm gonna puke. And I'm sooooo hot! I can't cool off - unless I've just taken a nap and then I sweat so much that I'm damp and freezing. (I know - TMI).

About the only productive thing I've done this weekend is clean my bathroom toilet. Saturday, I felt like I was going to puke (my lesson learned - empty tummy + medicine = sick feeling) so I cleaned it inside and out. Can't puke in a dirty toilet! I just can't.

And to change the subject - I think Duke is getting depressed. Not only do I get to listen to Sterling say he misses Tundra, but Duke just moping around. Duke spent last night inside - which is only the 3rd time we've allowed him to stay inside unless they were in the laundry room - and just didn't want to leave. He comes inside and mopes around and just lays there. He does get a little playful, but unless we are playing with him he lays there. Oh, and he follows daddy around. It makes me so sad. Maybe he's afraid we'll take him somewhere and not bring him back. Anyway, last night we let him stay inside. He started out on the floor by Tim (he's a daddy's boy - just like Ster and Tundra). We never really house-broke him, so I couldn't sleep thinking he would wake up and pee somewhere. I tried to get him outside around 1:30 - but he would not go. It took Tim telling him to go downstairs to get him to move from our room. But I couldn't get him outside. Must not have had to go =) At 2:30, I tried AGAIN but when I managed to get him to go outside he stood by the door giving me those sad little eyes. So I brought him back in. Well, he made it to the bed before I did - and ended up on my side of the bed half way down. So, I ended up sleeping (or attempting to sleep) curled in a ball until 5:30 when I just couldn't take it anymore and FORCED him outside. The things we do for our children!

I better go - time to get dressed! We can't eat at the table unless we are fully dressed (a rule that was put into effect when Jayden's dad came to live with us - he thought it was appropriate to come to the table without a shirt. Hey - I was fine with that because it meant that he actually showered, and he only showered maybe once a week. Working construction. Stinky. Dirty. Gross.)

Have I rambled enough?

Another day

stuck in my room. At least my head isn't throbbing right now. My chest hurts from coughing so much, but at least my head doesn't hurt. I am so tired of being sick - I'm a lazy person and perfectly content to watch movies, until I'm forced to watch TV all day.

I'm a wimp, what can I say!

On a bright side - I watched some people move yesterday and I am sooooo thrilled! I like the owners of the house - but the daughter, her hubby, and their kids drive me crazy. But they are out! The hubby had moved out awhile ago but they got back together and moved out. Hip Hip Horray! Now my dogs (scratch that - dog) won't be barking as much at them. Now I won't have to listen to the music of the obnoxious people as they come and go and sit in their car. (It was lots of fun yesterday with a migraine listening to the boom boom boom of their stupid car radio). Lets just hope they don't move back in!

A terrible day

Today has not been good. We did put Tundra down - and my heart broke. I did go to the vet to be with him, but had to leave early and wasn't able to be there when they took him back. I don't know if I could have handled it being in there when they gave him the shot. But sitting in the room before they came in just broke my heart. He was shaking like a leaf - did he know what was in store? He is such a sweet dog - well, he's been crankier in his old age but he was still sweet.

The vet checked out his toe (which had grown three times the size from 2 months ago - I could show pictures but i don't think you'll want to see it) and told Tim that it was a tumor that could have been fast growing cancer or slow growing cancer. Either way, he would be in pain until he died - so, we ended his suffering. Poor, poor Tundra.

Tim said that Duke was wimpering this afternoon - guess he missed Tundra, too.

So, we took pictures last night. I wanted one last picture will my little poopsie. When my laptop is up and running again I'll post pictures.

I had to leave the vet early because I had an appointment with the Doctor. Yesterday I started to feel what i thought was a cold coming on. But, I couldn't breath very easily (still can't) and the pain killers just wasn't working (still isn't). When I laid down, I felt like I had a huge weight on my chest. Oh, breathing hurt. So, after cold/flu medicine I started to feel better - and began to think it was a waste of time. But, after sitting in the waiting room for 45 minutes and then 15 minutes in the exam room, I felt like crap. I started to get the chills and then started feeling warm, my chest really really hurt, my head felt like it was being hit with a 10 pound hammer, and my ears were starting to hurt. I was so miserable. Wait - I still am miserable! So, I've spent the day in bed, alternating being hot and cold, in severe pain, and coughing to no end. I am starting to feel better again - but it will only last for an hour or so and then I'll be feeling like crap. Oh, I was told I have bronchitis and a sinus infection. It is a good thing I don't have to work until Monday!

There was a bright spot in the day. While being thoroughly annoyed at having to wait 45 minutes, the nurse took me back and took my temp and breathing. Then she asked if I wanted to be weighed. Hello! Does anyone who is 60 pounds over weight WANT to get a scale? I passed. Then as we were walking back, she said she'd take my blood pressure. Now remember - I was at this point in a lot of pain. I told her that I was at ___ (you think I'm gonna tell you?). She looked at him and told me that was very high. I wanted to say - You think? Then she asked me when I had it checked last. I told her it was earlier this week at the Fitness Center - and then she looked at me weird and chuckled. She thought I had told her my blood pressure - and then said I must have thought she was rude for saying it was very high. I shrugged - I'm overweight and I know it! No sense in getting upset about it =)

The one bright spot in my day. Wait! I took the quilt to get quilted, so that is good, too.

Tundra

I made an appointment to have Tundra put down. Yes, I teared up. I cried in the shower when I thought about it this morning. I cried last night when I remembered I had to make the appointment. I cried Monday when I called to find out what we needed to do. I've cried several times when I went to pet him - cuz I know what is gonna happen. I'm crying over a dumb dog! But I just love that dumb dog. Basically, I'm gonna kill my poor, little Tundra and I feel so guilty! Little does he know that when he leaves with Tim on Friday he won't be coming back. I keep picturing him looking up at me with his cute little face - and I cry. Seriously, I cry. It isn't like I have him in the house daily - I can't stand the fur all over my carpet so they don't come in all the time. And wet paws? They aren't allowed in my house. Cold outside? Well, if they are lucky I'll bring them into the laundry room - but that is after I take them around front to come in thru the garage or I wipe their paws first or I put down towels and make them walk straight from the back door to the laundry room. I'm not a nice momma - so why am I so heartbroken?

Friday is the day UNLESS - and I'm hoping for this - the vet can tell us there is a cheaper alternative than cutting off his huge, red toe for $1100+. Don't know what that would be, but there could be something. We just can't make him hurt like he does - he limps and he licks his toe and he has a hard time standing up at times. And I can't stand to look at his toe - it is so much worse than it was when we first took him to the vet. My hope that it would heal has disappeared.

My poor Tundra!

Quilting

I don't have any patience. Just ask Tim and Ster. So I'm quite surprised to find that I have enjoyed quilting! Shocking, I know.

For my dad's family reunion, we are in charge - which means that we get to provide the quilts to auction. (Luckily for us, my sister has won several baby quilts over the years she has been saving - and she was nice enough to donate them back) Someone - don't know who - had the idea to make a quilt with the pictures of all of my dad's family on it. We (at least some of us) thought it was a great idea. But, after 3 months of procrastination I finally bit the bullet and started. Didn't leave myself much time - but it has been easier than I thought. Is it perfect? No and it'll drive me crazy. Fun it has been fun and a learning experience.

And it has given me the quilting bug. For some odd reason, I want to make another quilt. Working on the family quilt has taught me a few things - so next time I make one I think I can do a better job. I really should have made a practice quilt first. So, I have found a couple of fairly easy patterns that I would like to try out. Now if I can find the time!

I'm gonna post some pictures when I get done - and that should be within a week so check back!

Two Wives

So Ster told me this morning that when he gets older he wants two wives. What? When I asked him why, the answer was simple. So the two wives can clean the house and he won't have to.

Ha ha ha! Little does he know that with two wives, everything will double. Two times the makeup on the bathroom counter. Two women taking long showers and taking up bathroom time. Two sets of clothes filling up the closets. Two sets of shoes to buy. Two times of the month where his wives will be a bit cranky, bloated, and crampy. Two hobbies he'll have to support. Two emotional women - he won't want to watch any movie where tears might flow.

He's gonna have to have a heart to heart talk with daddy - so daddy can tell him all about how it is like living with mommy and that he could possibly get someone similar to mommy and how he really, really, really wouldn't want two ladies who may be like mommy.

That's my son! Thinking of the future.

We're not very nice

I just found out that Tim's sister is having major surgery on Monday. Don't know what kind of surgery or why - I read about it on Facebook. I've heard of people finding out siblings are pregnant on facebook but that has always been someone else. You know - that wouldn't happen to me, it only happens to other people.

It is kind of hard to admit that we don't keep in touch with Tim's family that well. Obviously we don't hear about important things. Heck - I found out at Christmas that his sister sends out Christmas Card/Family Photos but we are left off the list (guess I need to start sending out cards again). Hmmmm, I wonder what we did?!?

I'd like to think I am close to my family - but will admit I'm closer to some than others. I wish we had more get-togethers but we always seem to invade one particular house and I always feel guilty to invading them all the time.

Anyway - after reading about her upcoming surgery, I'm bound and determined to communicate a little bit better with his family. Maybe I'll invite them to read my blog - not that anyone has shown any interest in it. Maybe I should email them each week (I'm not good at talking on the phone). Maybe we'll just move to Texas. Or maybe not.

And I'm really not nice when it comes to trampy-looking ladies. Come on people! Cover yourselves! I don't care what the fashion is! I have seen very few people who can walk around in a swimsuit and not have at least some cellulite. However, I have seen waaaayyyyy too many girls in skimpy clothes that show off more cellulite than should be seen by others. I've said this before and I'll say it again: I don't want to see my own cellulite and I DEFINITELY don't want to see anyone elses!

I bring this up because we went to the City of Fun Carnival in American Fork. I love those stupid rides - the wilder, the better! But I wanted to cover Sterling's eyes when some girls walked by. I swear, one bounce and some of the ladies would be showing what shouldn't be shown. And the cellulite. MY EYES! MY EYES! How horrible a site.

I need to be nice.

Wishy Washy

I think Tim wants to smack some sense into me. I'm so wishy washy. At times I want to tell him to take the "For Sale" sign down - and I start looking at carpet and paint colors and bathroom vanities and curtains and trees. And the next minute I'm checking out utahrealestate.com and seeing if there is anything new I might be interested in.

Right now I'm trying to plan some landscaping. Our yard is bare. Very bare. We do have a lilac bush, 5 rose bushes, and about flower-plants. Pretty pathetic. However, I don't have a lot of time to have a high-maintenance yard. But I would love to have a pretty yard. So, I'm trying to figure out where trees can go, what plants I'd like, and how to separate the plant section from the grass (do we want curbing? bricks? pavers?). But as well as NOT having a green thumb, I have no talent what-so-ever when it comes to design. We have an opportunity to get 4 trees in the next few weeks - so my chance to spend the winter planning and plotting my yard has dwindled down to a couple of weeks. Yikes!!! Do we want all 4 up front? 2 in front and 2 in back? all 4 in back? Crap.. I need help. Serious help!
