about my newsletter:
I DON'T CARE! (Ok, so it bothers me a BIT) I really don't care that you think that the editor (me) needs to take the time to properly puncuate the newsletter. I cut and paste what is sent to me. I have to take 5 pages (sometimes 6) and fit it into 4 pages. So yes, I cut things down. Do I always put a.m. or p.m.? NO! I put put am and pm - because those few periods may save me a line farther down. A line that I desparately need in order to fit in as much information as I can. If you have the time to go thru the stinkin' newsletter and correct the puncuation, maybe you would be so kind as to leave me your name and number and you can help me finish the newsletter next month. Because I could use a little help - 'cuz I'm not "wised up" like you, I'm "dumbed down".
Never said I was smart. Never will.
Sincerely,
the stupid editor of the American Fork City Newsletter
Yes, I got a complaint about my newsletter. If only that resident knew how torturous it was to prepare. First, I have to fight with the departments on what they submit. I cut and paste - that way, if a date is wrong I am not the one who put it in there (I have put in a wrong date and a wrong phone number and that was embarrassing - so I let the submitter take all the credit for what is wrong or right). But it is hard to cut and paste when they have so much room and they send me twice as much. I can tell them until I'm blue in the face that they have 250 words - I always get more. Or, I'll get three or four papers from the same department - and when I tell them they need to email me all the information at once I'm told that they do what they want. THEN, the deadline comes and I'm still waiting on information so that I can send out the newsletter. So I know I don't do as good of a job that could be done. But for cryin' out loud - if some punctuation errors in the newsletter bothers you that much - DON'T READ IT!
