I would love

to sleep the next month away!

Life has been hectic lately.  My boss had surgery on March 28th - hip surgery.  He was very optimistic and kept saying he'd be working again the following week.  Really?  I wasn't about to tell my boss that I thought it would be longer.  However, I did consider the fact that after awhile he'd probably be stir-crazy and wanting to get to work (at home, most likely).  So, I figured he'd be gone for 2 full weeks (with some work at home) and then he'd be back at work a couple of hours a day and then by week 4 he'd be back full time.  He is very stubborn and works through his pain.  But things didn't go as he planned.  He was sicker than a dog after his surgery!  The pain meds kept him hurling and so 8 days after his surgery he ended up back in the hospital.  In ICU.  He was severely dehydrated, his sugar levels at 600 (he's diabetic), his kidneys shut down, and he developed a blood clot.  Not good.  He has gotten better and was released from the hospital Monday.  Thank heavens!

But, with my boss gone that left me doing my job and his job.  Now, I was planning on doing that awhile, but I figured he'd be available by phone if I had any questions.  Nope!  And, as it so happens - it got very busy last week.  The first week went by smoothly.  The second week I was about to pull out my hair!  I had calls left and right.  I had an all day meeting on Wednesday (6th) and another hour-long meeting on Thursday (the 7th).  A co-worker had scheduled Friday (8th) and Monday (11th) off.  So in addition to working on minutes, I was bombarded with calls and requests.    With my co-worker gone those two days I was bombarded with more questions.  It was crazy!  And I was cranky.  To add to my stress, I had another meeting Tuesday night that I thought would be about an hour and a half long.  I was going to go crazy.  I was so far behing my minutes - but Tuesday evening's City Council meeting was only 30 minutes (yes!!!!) and I was able to whip those minutes out fast.

So, after a hectic two weeks - things are looking up for me.  My desk is somewhat clean.  And I only have one more meeting to work on minutes.  Yes!

Maybe life isn't so bad, right now.
